Everyone told to check sofa and coin jar as rare 50p fetches £63,000
Recent research by UK Debt Expert, delving into eBay purchases over the past six months, has shown that coin collectors could be sitting on a goldmine, with some coins worth up to £63,000.
The study indicated that the Brexit 50p coin from 2020, inscribed with 'peace, prosperity, friendship with all nations', is top of the value charts, having changed hands for more than £60,000, and again for £25,500, with prices starting at £10,000.
This particular 50p, commemorating the UK's exit from the EU, is highly coveted amongst numismatists. Additionally, a rare King Charles £5 note released this year fetched £2,800 and is predicted to appreciate as his tenure continues.

Moreover, 2002 Queen Elizabeth Golden Jubilee £5 coins are in demand, especially among younger collectors, fetching up to £5,000. Even a 1970s penny might yield a windfallto the tune of £7,500.
UK Debt Expert's personal finance expert Maxine McCreadie commented on the situation: "As King Charles' new coins are issued across the UK, there's no better time to have a look at your own collection and see what can be turned into cash.", reports Wales Online.
"Some people may not realise what they might have if they were gifted a coin, such as millennials whose parents may have purchased a £5 coin for them in 2002. If you have any old coins from last year or 30 years ago, check online to get an idea of how much they have recently sold for, and make sure to mention any specific designs. When selling, ensure to include any authentication you have and a full description of the item."
"Whether you're looking to try and make a little extra money or simply intrigued by the potential value of your coins, it could be worth checking their value online."
