Airbnb Plus: Everything you need to know about your new go-to for luxury travel

Airbnb is one of the great travel success stories of the past decade.

The company, who are celebrating their tenth birthday this year, pride themselves on their mission to “create a world where people can belong when they travel by being connected to local cultures and having unique travel experiences”.

Their premise is simple, people can rent out their houses, be it rooms or entire houses or otherwise to travellers. This has proved incredibly popular as Airbnb are now one of the biggest travel corporations in the world.

To celebrate reaching double digits, they have just announced a new roadmap to “bring magical travel to everyone”.

Included in this roadmap are four new property types including Vacation Home, Unique, B&B and Boutiques (in addition to the options of Entire Home, Private Room and Shared Space).

Two new tiers have also been added – Airbnb Plus and Beyond by Airbnb.

Airbnb Plus has been designed to ‘broaden’ the appeal of Airbnb to more guests and to recognise hosts that go ‘above and beyond’. Launched today, Airbnb Plus is a collection of over 2,000 homes in 13 cities across the world that have all been inspected and verified for their cleanliness, comfort and design in person.

Beyond by Airbnb is the result of the company’s acquisition of Luxury Retreats. Launching in the coming months, Beyond Airbnb will offer custom-designed trips in luxury homes along with world-class hospitality. Sounds pretty good, huh?

Today also marks the launch of Airbnb Collections, a new addition to the brand which sees homes grouped depending on the kind of trip you are looking for. From families looking for extra space, adventurers looking for somewhere off the beaten track and honeymooners looking for something with a touch of romance – you can now choose from categories like Airbnb for Families and Airbnb for Work with collections for social stays, weddings, honeymoons, group getaways and dinner parties being introduced later this year.
