Evicted Love Island couple sit on separate sofas during bizarre This Morning interview

ITV2’s Love Island may be in full swing after kicking off its fourth series by breaking a channel record, but the first couple voted out appear to hate one another.

While the latest evictees Charlie Frederik and Hayley Hughes appeared on This Morning they didn’t do so in any conventional way.

After informing viewers that the two didn’t get on (which was a bit of an understatement, cameras gave them a split image as Charlie and Hayley were sitting on opposite sides of the studio – and on totally separate couches and set areas, no less.

we’ve got one half of the couple here, the other half is on the other side of the studio,’ presenter Phillip Schofield mused, as everyone looked a tad awkward with what was happening.

‘We’ve never had this before!’ he said.

When Phil asked who dictated this, Liverpudlian Hayley had some interesting insight to share, suggesting it was a joint decision by her, Charlie, and he show itself: ‘I think it’s a bit of both to be honest because obviously we’ve discussed with Love Island that we just don’t get on and obviously we don’t want to be just sat here arguing with each other!’

‘I just feel like if someone puts something on me too soon I just run away and it doesn’t really take me long to suss out whatIi want in someone,’ she clarified.

Phil also asked why she didn’t give Charlie a chance, as he described him as a ‘lovely bloke’, to which Hayley was honest about the show’s setup and pressures of the cameras: ‘It’s so intense in there. You deal with things differently to how you would deal on the outside.

‘Maybe I did deal with some things wrong,’ she admitted.

Even the official This Morning Twitter account acknowledged the strange situation.

‘When our @LoveIsland guests Hayley and Charlie aren’t quite ready to share a sofa…’

We’ve heard of people not getting on – mainly from shows such as Take Me Out or in classic episodes of Blind Date but it seems the show’s title isn’t quite living up to its name.

Catch Love Island weeknights, from 9pm, on ITV2.
