Over the weekend, a clip went viral showing an older man furiously shouting at a family and trying to place them under citizen's arrest, and that man in question has now been identified as Fergus Beeley, an ex-BBC producer who worked on David Attenborough's documentaries.

In the video, Beeley is seen threatening the family after he claims they were involved in a nearly fatal car accident off the M27 in Hampshire.

Beeley can be seen trying to force the family's car door open and trying to grab the arms of a man in an effort to place him under citizen's arrest.

He tells the family that he intends to arrest all of them, including the son who was sat in the back seat, claiming the family were dangerous driving, abusive and that one of the family members had tried to punch him.

The family can be heard saying that Beeley said he was an undercover police officer, which he denies.

When the family repeat Beeley's claim that he wanted them to die, he says: "I do want you dead. Put your hands on the car and get ready to die."

BBC News reports that when the police arrived no arrests were made, but two allegations of common assault were made.

The publication also states that Fergus Beeley has not worked for the BBC for over 10 years. During his time with the corporation he worked on The Life of Birds, Planet Earth and Natural World.

"We were called to a non-injury road traffic collision on the M27 between junctions five and seven at 11.30am on July 22," a Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson told The Telegraph.

"The incident involved a Mazda 3, a Peugeot 107 and a Skoda Octavia. When officers attended all parties had moved to the Sainsbury's car park in Hedge End.

"A 32-year-old man from Southampton and a 54-year-old from Gloucestershire each made an allegation of common assault but neither party wanted to pursue the complaint.

"As a result, advice was given to both parties and told that two assaults will be recorded and filed."
