An ex-Coventry University student said opening a business where he studied just four years ago was a 'dream come true.' Yateesh Kamath took a leap of faith and launched his own eatery Indigo Flavours at The Hub on Priory Street.

Yateesh, who lives in Binley, moved to the UK from India in 2018 to study MSc Digital Marketing Management at Coventry University. He worked in the industry for around four years, but said opening his own restaurant had been something he had 'always dreamed of.'

Yateesh took the plunge earlier this year when he decided to get in touch with Coventry University. He was 'thrilled' to be told that he could open Indigo Flavours at The Hub and said the response so far had been 'amazing.'

Speaking to CoventryLive, Yateesh, 40, said: “I always wanted to open a restaurant, so in December I finished a major project then after that I was not finding any projects, and at the same time I had worked in the food industry when I had just come to the UK. I thought why not open a similar kind of restaurant so I messaged Coventry University asking whether they had any spaces available and they said that I had reached out at the right time.”

Yateesh said the desire to open his own business was also sparked by feeling 'disappointed' by what was already on offer in Coventry. He then had a meeting with Coventry University, which led to him being given the go-ahead to open Indigo Flavours at The Hub.

Since opening on Monday (September 16), Yateesh said the response so far has been 'amazing.' Staff at Coventry University described the Asian-inspired dishes as 'the most authentic they had ever tasted.'

Yateesh also shared plans to expand the business and in the next year open five more outlets in the West Midlands. He has also launched Indigo Flavours on iOS and Android.
