Ex-Soccer Star Goes Snorkelling in His Bathtub During Italy COVID-19 Lockdown

Marco Negri — a former Italian soccer star — took an adventurous approach to forced isolation due the coronavirus, conducting a snorkelling expedition in his own bathtub in Bologna.

Marco’s wife, Monica Turchi, recorded this video on March 23 showing Negri celebrating as he finds two ‘treasures’ during the bath dive.

Negri told Storyful that he came up with the idea to urge people to stay at home in Italy.

“In this tough situation due to COVID-19, I just wanted to put a smile and lift up the spirit for my followers during lockdown,” he said.

Negri was part of the Rangers roster in Glasgow for several years but his later career was plagued by injuries.

Italy had more than 115,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 resulting in over 13,000 deaths by early on April 3, according to a tally from Johns Hopkins University. Credit: Monica Turchi via Storyful
