During last year's trial, the jury heard allegations that Lynes had become physically and verbally violent and sexually aggressive towards the victim during a dispute.

The actor had denied all charges against him, insisting that he has never been violent towards the woman in question.

On Home and Away, Lynes' character Adam acted as mentor to Darryl Braxton and was later sentenced to 25 years in prison, also confessing to the murder of Johnny Barrett.

Lynes first rose to fame in Australia for his six years as Dr Luke Forlano in All Saints, a troubled character who was caught up with the mob.

Lynes also appeared in Aussie teen drama Blue Water High, police procedural Sea Patrol, family drama McLeod's Daughters and the hit dramedy Packed to the Rafters.
