Ex-Neighbours star Harley Bonner talks new Home and Away role

Home and Away spoilers follow for UK viewers.

Former Neighbours star Harley Bonner is best known to soap fans as Ramsay Street's Josh Willis, but the actor has now turned his attentions to Summer Bay.

Harley has certainly been given a memorable entrance to Home and Away as new character Dr Logan Bennett in scenes which have now aired in Australia, as he was immediately caught up in the aftermath of the horrifying car crash involving Dean Thompson (Patrick O'Connor), Mia Anderson (Anna Samson) and Nikau Parata (Kawakawa Fox-Reo).

The actor has now shared more details about what we can expect from trauma surgeon Logan, telling TV Week that his character's "unique set of skills" makes him invaluable in an emergency like the big car crash.

He also revealed that Logan and his Neighbours character, the competitive and fiery Josh, are worlds apart.

"Logan and Josh are very different characters," he said. "I loved playing Josh back in the day, and he was a great outlet for the dominant aspects of my personality. From 21 to 24, I was a little more fiery.

"Thirty is a different ball game. Still fiery, but Logan gives me the opportunity to be cheeky and playful every day. He's been a real joy."

Harley, whose mum is fellow former Neighbours star Carla Bonner, also shared that he is "loving" his time in Summer Bay so far, calling his experience "exactly what I expected, just with new people to work with".

As for his new co-stars, Harley is already full of praise for them – even if he'd rather keep it quiet.

"Emily Weir (Mackenzie Booth) has been a godsend. So much fun," he said. "And Paddy (O'Connor) is a great dude and was super-welcoming. Don't tell him I said something nice about him!"

In a recent trailer for the soap, fans got a brief glimpse of Logan flirting with Mackenzie on the beach – could romance be in the air for the pair in future?

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia). Selected classic episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
