Ex-Rangers Owner And Chief Executive Arrested

Police investigating alleged fraud in connection with the acquisition of Rangers Football Club have arrested three men.

The suspects include Craig Whyte, 44, who took over the Scottish club in 2011.

The former owner has been detained in custody after being questioned at a Glasgow police station.

Also arrested is ex-chief executive Charles Green, 62, who led a consortium which bought the club's assets in 2012 following Rangers' liquidation.

Police Scotland issued statements relating to both men, stating that the arrests were made "in connection with an ongoing investigation into an alleged fraudulent acquisition of Rangers FC in 2012".

Green arrived at Livingston police station in West Lothian during the day, where he was understood to have been interviewed by officers about his time at the Glasgow club.

The businessman stepped down as Rangers chief executive in 2013.

A third man, 50-year-old David Whitehouse, who worked for Rangers' administrators Duff and Phelps, was detained at an address in England by Police Scotland's economic crime unit and Cheshire officers.

All three men are expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
