Ex-Tropical Cyclone Imogen Brings Strong Winds and Heavy Rain to Cairns

A severe weather warning was in place for north Queensland on January 4 as ex-Tropical Cyclone Imogen was forecast to bring heavy rain and destructive winds.

Imogen was downgraded to an ex-tropical cyclone earlier in the day, but the Bureau of Meteorology said it remained “a dangerous system with widespread flooding rainfall expected over northern Queensland.”

Rescue teams were being readied amid the significant rainfall, the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service said.
