Casualty spoilers follow.

Casualty star Charles Venn has teased a shocking and 'unexpected' story for his character Jacob Masters later this year.

Jacob took centre stage in last weekend's high-stakes episode, which saw him targeted by a man wearing an explosive vest.

Although Jacob did manage to flee before the bomb was denoted, the near-death experience encouraged him to start thinking outside the box where his love life was concerned.

It remains to be seen what this now means for Jacob and Connie, but Charles has revealed that there is another controversial story on the way – which fans won't see coming. Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Charles said: "We have a big, big storyline that is on the way.

"Unfortunately, I've been trained by the Casualty snipers not to say anything at this stage [laughs] but I can assure you that it's a story that will definitely raise eyebrows. It's not something people are not going to expect.

"It's going to be great though. It will raise eyebrows and people are certainly not going to expect it from Jacob. That is being filmed as we speak, so stay tuned."

Charles also confirmed that Jacob would be playing a big part in Grace's return story later this month. Jacob formed a close bond with Connie's young daughter during her last stint, which will be revisited when she returns to Holby all grown up.

"Jacob sees Grace as his step daughter, like his little girl", Charles explained. "He has known her since she was a child, and now she's coming back as a young lady.

"Jacob will always have a soft spot for Grace and she's always going to be his little girl. So yes, they are definitely going to be scenes between Jacob and Grace, for sure."

Casualty continues on Saturday, February 6 on BBC One.
