Yahoo News Exclusive: Colin Mochrie wants Whose Line Is It Anyway? back
Whose Line Is It Anyway? first aired on UK screens a whopping 30 years ago, delighting audiences with its hilarious improvisational comedy.
Although the show continues in America, the UK hasn’t had any new episodes since 1999 following 10 series on Channel 4.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, star of the UK and US versions Colin Mochrie said he would love to see it return to British TV.
“Sure, I would love to,” he said of a reboot. “We still do it in the states and the beauty of shooting Whose Line is that it never took a lot of time. In the States it was like two weekends and we had enough for a whole season, and same with England.
“I would love for it to come back again, mainly because I love London and love spending time here and wish it would be longer. I’m going to push that out there, get us back on the air.”
To celebrate the show’s 30 year anniversary, Colin is reuniting with some of the other original stars including former EastEnders star Josie Lawrence, Brad Sherwood and Chip Esten for a series of shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Host Clive Anderson is also back to host the live event.
Speaking of getting back with the cast, Colin added: “It’s just like it used to be. Having us all together is a nice reunion. We just jump in to the old relationship we had together.”

Speaking of the biggest change in the last 30 years, the 61-year-old said: “I move slower so I don’t have to be as frantic as I was when I was younger. I’m a wiley veteran now so I can still get laughs without moving at all which at this age is good.”
But some things apparently don’t change, with Colin admitting the cast still hates doing the musical Hoedowns.
“I don’t think there was ever a point in the history of Whose Line that anybody said ‘I’m really looking forward to the hoedown’, everyone hates it.
“We’re going to do it with the show, but just hearing the word Hoedown, immediately my shoulders tense up, my rectum gets tighter, it’s just horrific.”
Whose Line Is It Anyway? is at the Royal Albert Hall for a number of shows Saturday 15 December and Sunday 16 December. Tickets are available here.
