Hollyoaks star Jessamy Stoddart has told Digital Spy that she's backing a romantic future for Liberty Savage and Damon Kinsella.

The two friends grew closer recently, as Damon (Jacob Roberts) supported Liberty over her pregnancy in the absence of Sienna Blake and Brody Hudson.

Since Brody (Adam Woodward) returned to the village, the story has shifted again as Hollyoaks has explored possible feelings between him and Liberty – culminating in a surprise kiss.

However, asked by Digital Spy whether she thinks the Liberty and Damon pairing could still go further, Jessamy replied: "Oh, it would be lovely if it could, as I think they're so well suited.

"You never know what the future holds and whether there could be a little romance on the horizon. You'll have to wait and see.

"If I had to choose who Liberty should be with, I'd probably say Damon. I think they're very well-matched."

Liberty and Brody are currently trying to ignore their potential feelings for each other, but it hasn't been easy. They're also unaware that Sienna (Anna Passey) is watching them from afar via a hidden spycam.

Jessamy told us: "I think Liberty is feeling guilty and embarrassed over her kiss with Brody. She isn't wanting to jump into a relationship with anyone, but she's just really confused about Brody.

"With Sienna gone, Liberty is now facing up to the fact that she might have to be a mum to Brody's child, which she never planned on doing. I think she could start to develop feelings that she didn't even know she had, because she wants them to be a parental unit together.

"If Liberty knew that Sienna was watching, I think she'd be quite upset and she probably wouldn't have kissed Brody!"

Asked where things are heading next, Jessamy teased: "I think for Liberty these feelings progress and that's all I'll say!"

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
