Yahoo News Exclusive: Hollyoaks star reveals romance hope for Peri
Hollyoaks star Ruby O'Donnell has told Digital Spy that she'd like Peri Lomax to get a new love interest following the departure of Harley Frater.
Peri's relationship with Harley came to an end in March, when Mollie Lambert's character left the Channel 4 soap following a one-year stint.
Harley's final weeks on screen saw her in a polyamorous relationship, with her and Peri both seeking "Tom time" with unlikely ladies' man Tom Cunningham.
Speaking to Digital Spy about future hopes for Peri, Ruby explained: "Peri has been so unlucky with love. She obviously had Tom, who she had Steph with, then a little fling with Prince, then Harley who she fell in love with but there was so much confusion around it.
"She's never really had a stable relationship, where everything has just gone fine and normal. I'd like her to meet someone new, or someone that's already in the cast. Just fall in love and have a bit of happiness in her life."
On exploring Peri and Harley's same-sex relationship, she added: "People weren't expecting it from Peri. She's always been involved with Tom – she's been so boy-driven. Harley came along and completely swept her off her feet.
"It was shocking for all my fans and everybody who watches the show to be like: 'Oh wait, Peri's bisexual – we weren't expecting this'.
"We got a lot of feedback from it – and obviously people want me to be with Tom! They'd love Peri, Tom and Steph to be a little family. Then we had the thruple, which was crazy but great because the fans got Peri, Harley and Tom together."
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
