Exclusive: Hollyoaks star Tamara Wall speaks out on Grace Black twist
Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Tuesday's episode (April 23) on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Wednesday.
Hollyoaks star Tamara Wall has spoken out about tonight's big twist involving Grace Black and Freddie Roscoe.
Tuesday's streaming episode saw Grace and Freddie revealed to be engaged – and planning to elope with their children Curtis and Lexi.
Grace has been in prison since the disastrous botched heist last year but the show's spring trailer had shown Freddie paying her some mysterious visits. However, the revelation that they were now actually a couple was held back until transmission.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Tamara – who plays Grace – said: "When they told us, our jaws dropped. We were like, 'What?' But it makes it exciting.
"He killed Grace's dad but it's just Grace all over, isn't it? We still don't really know whether she's just using it to get out of prison and whether it's real love or if it's all fake.
"We don't really know yet and I don't think we will find out for some time. Watch this space, that'll be interesting."
Viewers will know that Freddie has been enjoying a romantic connections with both Kitty Draper and Lizzie Chen-Williams back in the village.
In tonight's scenes, Freddie assured Grace that, despite their open relationship agreement, he had not made a connection with anyone else.
Tamara continued: "Grace doesn't know that Freddie has been with other women and that's another twist.
"She's got a feeling because he's always been a bit of a ladies man but she doesn't know.
"So when she eventually gets back in the village, will she find out and what will she do about it? And she will be getting back to the village. She is not going to waste all this time and then not get out.
"The escape doesn't go to plan, but she will have another plan up her sleeve."
Speaking about the future for Grace once she is back in the village, Tamara added: "It's basically just more of Grace and Freddie.
"I think it's going to be quite interesting to watch how their relationship progresses once she's got out and whether we find out if they do really love each other or maybe they don't.
"It's going to be comedy because they're going to end up living on the love boat as well because Cindy has got her flat."
It was confirmed last month Tamara had returned to filming – less than a year after exiting her role as Grace.
Explaining how her return came about, Tamara said: "I was always hoping that I would be coming back. I was sort of tapping my fingers for a little bit.
"And then I got a phone call saying that the storylines have changed and there may be an opportunity to bring Grace back. I was like, 'Oh my God, please'.
"They were basically saying that they were desperate to get me back but were just trying to work out how they would get me back with the storylines because obviously Grace is stuck in prison.
"When Charlie [Clapham] came back, they were like, 'Oh, who can we put Freddie with to make the connection back to the village?'. Apparently all the scriptwriters were like, 'Grace!'. So thanks, Charlie Clapham!"
