Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks stars Billy Price and Kieron Richardson have spoken to Digital Spy about the show's shocking Sid Sumner cliffhanger.

The show's latest episode has left fans fearing for Sid's future after evil drug dealer Victor Brothers (Benjamin O'Mahony) stabbed him and left him for dead.

Sid paid the price for his attempts to double-cross Victor by gathering evidence against him that he could take to the police.

In emotional scenes, Ste found Sid bleeding heavily in the village, clinging to life. Viewers will now have to tune in on Wednesday to discover whether Sid has died or not.

Speaking to Digital Spy about the huge episode, Billy explained that the long-running County Lines storyline was always heading for a high-stakes moment like this.

Billy told us: "It was always leading up to this big moment where someone was going to have to risk their life to take down Victor.

"He's ruined his fair share of lives in the village, so I feel like it was always coming to this point where Sid had to risk everything for it to get back to normal."

Due to social distancing rules, Hollyoaks had the cast reacting to dummies for some of Sid and Ste's scenes in this episode, which helped to show them in close proximity.

Billy continued: "I had to do my bits to a polystyrene doll – a dummy! So I would like to see how it looks, because you don't really get that proper connection between the two characters when you're having to do it to marks and things like that."

Kieron added: "For me personally, it's been a long time since I've had to do a scene like that. Since coming back, it's all been quite nice and a bit fluffy. This was the first bit where I had to cry and break down.

"But on the day, I had some kind of breakdown myself and I was like: 'I can't do it, I can't do it, I actually can't do it!'

"In the end, I was getting towards this lifeless body and having to do this emotional scene and I remember saying to Billy: 'I sound like a dying cat or something!'

"It was awful, so I said: 'Give me another go! I need to do this!' The next take was hopefully better than take number one!"

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
