When Ant McPartlin entered rehab for prescription drug addiction over the summer, doubt was cast over whether or not he would be fighting fit to join co-host Declan Donnelly in the Aussie outback to film I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! this November.

There was further concern when it was reported earlier this month that filming for the show’s big-budget promotional campaign had been postponed so that Ant could continue with his recovery, however, Joel Dommett has confirmed that the plan is still for Ant to return to our screens next month.

The comic, who appeared in the reality show last year, has signed up to co-host I’m A Celeb’s spin-off show, Extra Camp this year, and speaking exclusively to Yahoo Celeb UK at this year’s Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards, he said that he was “looking forward” to work with Ant and Dec.

Joel told us: “Ant and Dec are good guys and it’ll be nice to be with them and not be petrified that I will be eating something disgusting.

“It will be nice to hang out with them and not be eating a goat’s d***. They’ve seen me at my worst, my shame left a long time ago.”

And Joel is also excited to be involved in the show without any of the horrible consequences that being a campmate entails, adding: “It’ll be weird to view it from the other side. It’s going to be so strange being there and being able to have a burrito.

“I was so hungry last time and all you do is talk about food so it’ll be nice to talk about food and then go and eat it.

“It’s a really solid team, I’m really excited – we will have lots of fun and I am excited to be there and not have just two options of clothing.”

Still, being a host doesn’t mean that Joel gets any exclusive insider knowledge, with the star insisting that he has no idea who is heading into the jungle this year – which he is grateful for as he’d blab the gossip to everybody.

He told us: “They don’t tell me who is going in because they know that I can’t keep a secret, they wouldn’t tell me.

“They rightfully don’t tell me otherwise I literally would have told you already, without you even asking me.”

Well, it sounds like it is for the best – meanwhile, we are counting down the days until I’m A Celeb returns to our screens next month.
