Exclusive: Neighbours star Nicholas Coghlan thinks a Shane and Roxy romance would be "weird"
Neighbours spoilers follow for UK viewers.
Neighbours star Nicholas Coghlan has admitted that he doesn't want the show to ever explore a romantic storyline for Shane Rebecchi and Roxy Willis.
The two characters struck up a friendship when they started working together at The Waterhole, leading to some speculation that their bond could one day lead to more.
Earlier this year, Roxy (Zima Anderson) made a move on Shane at the bar but faced rejection when he pushed her away.
More recently, Roxy was the first person to discover that Shane is struggling with a drug addiction. Seeing that the pair were hiding something, Shane's wife Dipi (Sharon Johal) grew concerned over their connection again.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy about whether Shane and Roxy's friendship could ever turn to more, Nicholas commented: "I don't think so. I think that'd be a bit weird, wouldn't it?
"I think it's an entirely platonic relationship – a father-daughter relationship, rather than anything romantic.
"Shane sees a kindred spirit in Roxy and perhaps there's no-one else on the Street who is that for him.
"But I don't think anything would happen between him and Roxy in the romantic sense. I honestly don't think that has even crossed Shane's mind."

Nicholas also discussed Roxy's role in the drugs storyline, which comes to a head on UK screens next week when she tries to dump his latest supply down the sink at Number 30.
This leads to a frightening moment for Roxy, as things turn physical when an out-of-control Shane tries to stop her.
Nicholas said: "On the one hand, Roxy has been good for Shane because she's entirely non-judgemental. She loves unconditionally and she's innocent. That's good for Shane.
"The fact that Roxy busted him was something he didn't want to occur. But he quickly discovered that he needed her support. He has abused their relationship and abused the situation by insisting that she doesn't tell anyone.
"It very important that he has her there as a support. He realises that Roxy having busted him is the best thing in the long-run."
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
