EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: The moment Rylan Clark-Neal confronted Love Island's Chris Hughes in furious red carpet row

Rylan Clark-Neal found himself embroiled in a furious red carpet row with Love Island‘s Chris Hughes last night, with the pair coming to blows after Rylan confronted Chris’ girlfriend, Olivia Attwood, over comments that she had made about him in the press.

The former X Factor contestant was hosting Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year awards for the second year running but the night definitely didn’t go as smoothly as he would have hoped, with Rylan and Chris squaring up to each other in front of Yahoo Celeb UK ahead of the ceremony.

It all started when Rylan was asked how he felt about Chris’ girlfriend calling him “Katie Price’s lap-dog”, with the question being asked just as Chris and Olivia walked onto the red carpet alongside their Love Island co-stars Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies.

Rylan responded: “Really?! Is that Olivia? She’s just walked in.”

He then called over to Olivia, to which the sheepish reality star replied: “Hiya, are you alright?” before Rylan took her to one side to have, what appeared to be, a very heated discussion.

Chris very quickly joined the altercation, with tension sweeping the room and various people attempting to pull Chris and Rylan away from one another.

After the frosty chat, Rylan returned to Yahoo Celeb, insisting that he was “great”, before adding: “It’s just that I don’t get involved in anyone’s f****** business.

“If I was used by Katie I’d expect to be on a bigger wage than I am now, she’s got a lot of money in the bank.”

He continued: “I won’t have anyone say that I get involved in anyone’s f****** relationship because I think over the past five years I don’t even publicise my own f****** relationship so why would I get involved in other people’s?

“Olivia is absolutely fine, I don’t really know what they said but I’m not getting involved in it.”

However, Rylan went on to make an apparent dig at the Love Island couple, adding: “At the end of the day, I’ve got a career so I don’t need to be involved.”

He then took another thinly-veiled swipe at Chris and Olivia’s highly-publicised romance by telling us that the secret to his and his husband Dan Neal’s happy two-year marriage was “not publicising it”, continuing: “The secret to a great marriage is living our life outside of the magazines.”

Meanwhile, Chris and Olivia were less enthusiastic about chatting to the press following the row, refusing to speak to more than one or two journalists before storming off.

Later that evening, Yahoo Celeb spotted Rylan and Chris having a private chat away from the rest of the crowd and the pair seemingly worked out their differences as after the event Chris tweeted: “Great night at the @Specsavers event hosted by @Rylan who did a great job as per!

“Been a long, tiring day, but a great way to finish it.”

Rylan also attempted to make light of their dramatic confrontation, retweeting Chris and adding: “Shattered after our ‘bust up’. Take care mate @chrishughes_22”.

All’s well that ends well.
