'Excuse Me': Aussie Man Politely Asks Lizard on His Leg to Let Go

Matterson Knyvett captured the moment a goanna latched onto his ankle while he was out on the recent job near McKinlay in Queensland, Australia.

The video shows Knyvett staying calm as the predatory lizard clawed at his ankle and wrapped its tail around his leg.

Knyvett told Storyful he was picking up old rubbish and sheets of tin in April when he inadvertently scared the reptile, who was under one of the sheets. The lizard responded by wrapping itself around his leg.

Knyvett said he managed to unwrap the animal from his leg and grabbed the animal’s head and “politely persuaded him that we should be practicing social distancing.” Credit: Matterson Knyvett via Storyful
