Exeter City Women will be looking for a return to winning ways as they travel to AFC Wimbledon on Sunday, the two promoted teams of last season facing each other for the first time.

Manager Kevin Foster has had a busy summer of squad recruitment, with nine players added to last year’s title winning side. Leanne Bell, Alex Hennessy and Janaye Beaufort have all moved to south-west London from Billericay Town, all three players highly impressive for Town in last season’s campaign.

Georgia Clifford returns to football after a spell with Swindon Town last season, with Breon Grant arriving from Chatham Town. Leeta Rutherford, a regular starter in Portsmouth title winning side of last season, is a quality addition to the Dons midfield, whilst Kau’inohea Solomon-Taylor and Rosie Kite will be familiar to the Grecians after their summer signing from Moneyfields. Solomon-Taylor will certainly be one to watch for Abbie Britton’s side as she scored three times against them last season.

AFC Wimbledon have had some mixed results to kick off the new season, Bell scoring on debut to secure a 1-1 draw with Lewes on opening day, before two narrow defeats to Gwalia United and QPR, this time in the League Cup, followed. Last season’s top scorer hit two at Cheltenham as the Dons ran out 3-0 victors, before an impressive home shutout against Oxford United last time out secured a point.

City will be looking to make amends from last weekend's late defeat to Oxford United, their first loss of the season, and will face tough opponents this weekend. A win on Sunday will cement the Grecian’s place at the top end of the division and underline their credentials as being a force to reckon with in the Southern Premier League this season.
