Exeter shop to throw open its doors in time for Christmas
A seasonal retailer is about to throw open the doors to its Exeter store in time for Christmas. The shop has become a staple part of the city's festive shopping season in recent years.
Calendar Club has been seen fitting out a store on Exeter High Street that was previously occupied by Shuropody, which closed for good earlier this year. It came as the footwear retailer entered liquidation in August, with a number of its other branches across the country closing around the same time.
The shop unit remained empty for several weeks but has now undergone a makeover and is being stocked full of calendars ahead of Calendar Club's imminent opening.

The calendar retailer has a year-round online store but operates its in-person stores seasonally. It was established in 1998, when it opened 12 temporary locations in the UK. On Calendar Club's website, it says that they now aim to trade in 200 stores each year, both in town centres and in out-of-town shopping centres.

The brand is part of a larger group which has branches in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and has around 1,000 shops globally.
This year, its first nine UK stores opened on September 20 and more have been added over the last six weeks. In its most recent Instagram announcement, it said more than 170 stores had opened, including one on Union Street in Torquay.
It has now been confirmed that Exeter's branch will be the next to open in the South West. Over recent years, the store has occupied various locations across the city centre, including vacant shop units in the Guildhall Shopping Centre and on the High Street.
Customers can expect a range of calendars, as well as an expanding gift line, which includes jigsaws, mugs, socks and stationery. The Exeter branch of Calendar Club will open on Thursday, November 7 and expects to remain open until January 2025.
