Explosions heard as car 'deliberately' set alight in Coventry
Explosions were reportedly heard after a car was 'deliberately' set alight in Coventry. Arsonists are believed to be behind the large blaze which happened in Cheylesmore.
Crews were called to Quinton Park at around 9.20pm on Friday (November 15). A 4x4 Brigade Response Vehicle from Coventry Fire Station was also dispatched.
Resident Olga Okrajek-Byra told CoventryLive that she was awoken by an 'explosion' and said the windows of her property were 'shaking.' Firefighters discovered that a large fire had engulfed a car next to a row of garages at the back of Quinton Park.

Using hose reel jets, they spent more than an hour tackling the blaze, West Midlands Fire Service said. Nobody was believed to have been injured.
Crews investigating the cause of the blaze say they believe it was started 'deliberately.' Witnesses have been urged to get in touch with West Midlands Police.
In a statement issued today (November 19), West Midlands Fire Service said: “We responded to Quinton Park in Cheylesmore at around 9.20pm on Friday (November 15). Crews and a 4x4 Brigade Response Vehicle from Coventry responded.
“It was a fire affecting a car next to a single row of garages to the rear of Quinton Park. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire, which is believed to have been started deliberately. We left the scene at 10.50pm.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We were called to reports of a car on fire on Quinton Park at around 9.30pm on November 15. Enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with further information can contact us via 101 or Live Chat, quoting log number 5129 of November 15.”
