Explosives in frozen river detonated to prevent flooding in northern China

Explosives detonated in a frozen river sent water metres into the air in northern China. The spectacular video was filmed in the city of Mohe in Heilongjiang Province on April 4. According to reports, when the upstream of the river starts to melt, the big chunks of ice flowing downstream may form ice dams. The ice chunks then may get stuck and cause a flood. The video was provided by local media with permission.
