Extinction Rebellion Activists Block Scottish Oil Rig Facility

Activists from the environmentalist Extinction Rebellion group blocked the entrance to an oil rig maintenance facility in Invergordon, Scotland, on the morning of October 6.

The group put up a prop oil rig at the site, with a banner on it reading, “Please decommission me”. Another banner said “Green jobs now”.

Extinction Rebellion said it was “calling for an end of fossil fuel extraction and support for a transition of skilled oil and gas workers into decommissioning and renewable industries, not new oil fields.” Credit: Extinction Rebellion Scotland via Storyful
