Extremely rare and beautiful white reindeer spotted by photographer in Sweden

They are normally brown, although one of them comes with a very shiny nose.

But not all reindeer resemble Rudolph.

An extremely rare white reindeer has been captured on camera on the edge of a forest in Sweden.

The albino stag was spotted in the wild by an amateur photographer.

The animal was seen by teacher Siv Poijo, who was on holiday in Mala, Sweden.

She saw the reindeer as it tried to cross a road.

Ms Poijo was returning to her cottage when she spotted the animal among a herd of reindeer.

She said: “In the pack there was only one white reindeer, it is not that often you see one.

“For the Sami people, the white reindeer have special significance - I think they bring luck and are considered holy.

“It just stopped at the side of the road and I managed to take a picture.”

White reindeer are just like their brown counterparts but have a genetic mutation which gives them their distinctive colour.

Found in the wild in Finland, Norway and Sweden, they are seen as magical and a sign of good luck.
