Queensland Man Scares off Suspected Car Thieves by Bellowing

A Brisbane man thwarted a suspected attempt to steal his car in the early hours of Wednesday, January 18, using nothing but his booming voice.

Stephen Lee, who lives in the suburb of Bridgeman Downs, told Storyful there had “been a lot of car theft going around,” adding that he and his wife had joined a community WhatsApp group and installed security cameras in a bid to “tackle the problem.”

“At two in the morning I got a notification from the sensor and knew straight away what it was,” Lee said. “I went straight to the window and saw two guys wearing gloves and hoods approach my car.”

He said that’s when he opened the window and “gave them both barrels.”

Home security footage captured the encounter, showing a car pull up outside Lee’s property and two people hop out. As they approach Lee’s car parked in the driveway, they’re met by the homeowner’s roaring voice, telling them, in no uncertain terms, to “Get the f*** outta here!”

The pair hurriedly return to the car in which they arrived and speed off.

“I don’t think I could have possibly shouted any louder,” Lee told Storyful. Credit: Stephen Lee via Storyful
