The FA have charged David Moyes following comments he made to a female reporter after Sunderland's draw with Burnley in March.

Moyes was recorded telling BBC reporter Vicki Sparks she might "get a slap" after taking exception to her line of questioning following Sunderland's relegation clash with the Clarets.

A statement on the FA's website read: "David Moyes has been charged in relation to comments made after the game against Burnley on 18 March 2017.

"It is alleged the Sunderland manager’s remarks were improper and/or threatening and/or brought the game into disrepute, contrary to FA Rule E3(1).

"He has until 6pm on 3 May 2017 to reply to the charge."

Speaking earlier this month, Moyes told reporters: "I have said that I regret it. I have spoken to the girl, who I apologised to, and she accepted it."
