FA Wales announce Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs as Chris Coleman successor

FA Wales have confirmed the appointment of Ryan Giggs as their new permanent manager, on a four-year-deal.

The Dragons have been on the search for a new manager since Chris Coleman departed to take charge of Championship side Sunderland following the failure to qualify for the World Cup in Russia.

The role is Giggs’ first permanent managerial position, having taken charge of just four games while in temporary charge of Manchester United after David Moyes was dismissed.

The United legend won two of his four games, drawing one and losing another before going on to work under Louis van Gaal as his assistant. Giggs announced his departure from the club in July 2016 with Jose Mourinho preferred as a replacement to Van Gaal.

The 44-year-old declared his interest in the role last month, saying: "I've played for Wales and I've said that I want to go back into coaching.
