Armando Broja isn't a likely makeweight in Chelsea's attempts to take Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City at the moment, as the clubs try to beat the PSR clock and come to an agreement.

Slough-born Albania striker Broja, aged 22, has been mooted as one of three potential Chelsea players being offered to Leicester in what would be billed as a separate deal to the one which would take Dewsbury-Hall to Stamford Bridge - and crucially clear any City concerns about a breach in Profit and Sustainability Rules by the end of football's financial year.

But Broja is also being linked with Everton among others and might come with too high a price tag for the transfer to make sense from Leicester's point of view.

“There is still interest from Everton and also another club asks for information on Broja in the last 24 hours," said transfer insider Fabrizio Romano in a Saturday afternoon update. "There is a lot of interest in Armando Broja. At the moment I am hearing there is not something concrete with Leicester City for Armando Broja.

“Leicester was one of the names discussed but at the moment Leicester know that the player has different plans and also Chelsea have good value for Armando Broja so it would make things complicated to include Armando Broja in the swap deal for Dewsbury-Hall.

“Discussions between Chelsea and Leicester continue over Dewsbury-Hall. They are talking even now, even today, so talks are ongoing. Let’s see what happens in the next hours, minutes, days because Chelsea are still working on that one."

Dewsbury-Hall starred as Leicester won promotion to the Premier League under Enzo Maresca - but Romano insists that Maresca's subsequent switch to Chelsea is not the driving force behind this potential deal.

He said: “Let me explain one thing on Dewsbury-Hall. Enzo Maresca approved this possibility and of course Enzo Maresca’s opinion is important but this is a deal that starts from the recruitment so it’s not Enzo Maresca calling Chelsea’s recruitment team and telling them, ‘Let’s go get him.’

“Enzo Maresca knew about the possibility directly from the recruitment team and he decided to approve the possibility but this started directly from Chelsea, not only from the manager. This is important to clarify.

“For sure it is something important to explain and the Dewsbury-Hall deal is ongoing.”
