Face of Stoke-on-Trent killer who delivered 'devastating' fatal single punch
Police have welcomed the sentence handed to a city centre reveller who killed a clubber with a single punch. Benjamin Wallbanks is this afternoon starting a nine-year extended sentence after admitting killing 30-year-old Benjamin Grosvenor, from Burslem.
The 41-year-old, of Opal Road, Fenton, had left Mr Grosvenor in a coma. The victim never recovered and died two years after the attack on Trinity Street, in Hanley.
The extended sentence includes a six-year prison sentence for the manslaughter. Wallbanks has also been sentenced for knocking out clubber David Regan with a single punch outside Hanley Pink earlier in 2021.

Following today's sentencing hearing at Stafford Crown Court, Detective Inspector Adrian Webb, from Staffordshire Police, said: “Benjamin and his family have suffered immeasurably since November 2021 and I offer them my heartfelt condolences. A single punch, wielded by Wallbanks, has had devastating and fatal consequences. I hope that Wallbanks’ conviction and prison sentence bring some closure to friends and family of Benjamin as they continue to come to terms with their tragic loss.”
