FaceApp: Gary Janetti's aged photo of Prince George proves the social media trend has finally gone too far

The FaceApp challenge has been all the rage this week, with celebrities including Drake, Miley Cyrus and Courtney Cox giving themselves an instant 'age-up.'

Now comedy writer Gary Janetti has taken it one step further... with Prince George.

FaceApp is an app for iOS and Android that allows you to alter photos. Users can gender swap, find their best hairstyle, add tattoos, and (most the popular) change their age.

Most people are using their own photos to change their age and reveal their older, wrinkled selves on social media.

But Will and Grace producer and unofficial royal commentator Gary Janetti, who runs a spoof account charting the inner thoughts of Prince George, gave the 3rd in line to the throne an age-up treatment - and the results are supremely creepy.

Janetti shared the photo to Instagram with the caption, "At least I keep my hair" - a dig at his Dad, Prince William.

Janetti has gained a following of nearly 800k on Instagram for his spoof snarky remarks about the British Royal Family.

His most recent post, following the Prince George FaceApp picture, depicts what appears to be Prince George stomping on Princess Charlotte’s foot, with a caption that reads, "Charlotte, what happened to your foot?"

Despite FaceApp's popularity, concerns have also been raised about the app's use of data.

As Twitter user James Whatley pointed out, the app's terms of use state that FaceApp can store your image and 'use, reproduce, modify and adapt' the photo once you've uploaded it, 'without compensation.'
