Could Facebook be replaced? Silicon Valley guru aims to create ‘less harmful’ version
Facebook has wormed its way into the centre of most people’s lives – but could the all-encompassing social network be replaced?
That’s what one big tech investor hopes, who is launching a project – Openbook – to ‘start the process of replacing Facebook.’
The idea is to create a ‘social network that is actually good for society’ – which does all the things Facebook does, without destroying people’s privacy and undermining democracy.
Silicon Valley investor Jason Calacanis, one of the early backers of Uber, is launching a big-money competition to create a billion-user social network to replace it, the Guardian reports.
