Facebook has already dipped its toe directly in the world of politics by doing its bit to tackle #fakenews, but now the social network has gone a step further.

In a bid to boost users' civil engagement through the website, Facebook has launched a game-changing new feature. Meet 'Town Hall'.

Essentially, Town Hall does what it says on the tin, by allowing users over in the US to connect directly with the representatives in their area.

Talking us through the steps, Mashable explains that Town Hall can be accessed through the 'Explore' panel, where you are then prompted to enter your address.

After you've entered your location, a list of local representatives pop up along with the option to 'follow' or 'contact' them. Through that, you can then call, email or message your rep.

Facebook has been making a few tweaks to its platform as of late, including an overhaul of how users view their comments.

In its latest design change, Facebook has transformed the usual comments thread in an attempt to make them more conversational, like in messaging services such as WhatsApp.

A spokesperson for the site confirmed: "We are always working to make Facebook a more visual and engaging place to have conversations.

"So we're testing multiple design updates in News Feed, including a more conversational way to comment on posts."
