Falling Power Lines Impale a Passing Car on the Outskirts of Seattle

Over two dozen power lines fell over onto a road near Seattle on April 5, with at least one going through the windshield of a passing car, leaving the occupants trapped inside for over an hour.

Seattle Times reported that the two people were discharged from hospital the same day.

The municipal government said that over 16,500 people were left without power due to the incident.

It also said that it had an ongoing program to inspect and replace wooden utility lines and that the ones on East Marginal Way, where the accident happened, had been inspected in 2016, with none identified as posing an immediate hazard. Credit: Seattle City Light via Storyful
