Family Appeal After Gloucester Party Killing

The distraught family of a shop worker killed outside a 21st birthday party in Gloucester say they think about him "every minute of every day".

Dolton Powell died in the early hours of 23 August near the city's All Nations Community Club in Chase Lane.

It is believed the 21-year-old had been at a party there.

An official cause of death has not been confirmed, but police say he had wounds consistent with stabbing.

Two others were injured in the incident.

Speaking at a news conference, his sister Janet Powell said the family had not been able to sleep or eat since his death.

"My brother was a good guy, a lovely guy. We loved him with all our hearts, our lives will never be the same again," she said.

"If we live 50 years, if we live 100 years, it will never be the same. I think about him every minute of every day."

Another sister, Andrea James, said she could not express the loss the family is feeling and pleaded for anyone with information to speak to police.

"Let's get back our community, we should be able to let our children feel safe on the streets without anything like this happening," she said.

Six people from Bristol - all male and aged between 17 and 20 - have been charged with murder and will appear before Bristol Crown Court on 1 September.

Police say there is no evidence to suggest Dolton - who was nicknamed "Happy Feet" by friends - died as a result of a gang attack.

Hours before he died, Dolton had been celebrating his cousins' upcoming birthdays.

Officers are still looking for two other people from the Bristol area in connection with his death.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Porter, from Gloucestershire Police, said: "While the investigation has clearly progressed, I don't want people to think it's over now we've reached a first court hearing.

"We still need to speak to two people from the Bristol area about their presence at the scene and I would appeal to them, or anyone who knows where they are, to come forward immediately."
