LUFKIN, Texas (KETK) — The Family Crisis Center of East Texas will host a donation drive to provide essential items for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The Bed & Bath Donation Drive was created to help ensure survivors can have essential items as they recover from abuse.

“When survivors enter the shelter, they are provided with the basic comforts that many of us take for granted,” Whitney Burran, the agency’s executive director, said. “A warm bed, fresh towels, and a soft pillow can make a world of difference in helping them feel safe and supported during such challenging times.”

The crisis center said many survivors struggle with sleeping due to the trauma they have endured. The drive will ensure that survivors have the essential items needed to have quality sleep, playing a vital role in their recovery from abuse.

The center is looking for these items before the March 31 deadline:

  • Twin bedding sets

  • Towels and towel sets

  • Pillows

  • Twin sheet sets

  • Blankets

  • Washcloths

“Community support is crucial in ensuring the success of the drive. By coming together, the community can make a tangible difference in the lives of survivors. The community’s generosity will provide them with the comfort and dignity they deserve as they rebuild their lives,” Burran said.

People can purchase items online through their Bed & Bath Donation Drive registry on Amazon, which will ship directly to the shelter. For those who want to shop locally, items can be dropped off at the Lufkin administrative office from Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
