The family Italian that TOWIE's Lydia Bright says is the best place to eat in Essex

Former The Only Way Is Essex star Lydia Bright has revealed her favourite place to eat: an Italian family pizzeria in Woodford Green. Bel-Sit was established in 1981 by the current owners’ grandparents, and they claim it was the first pizzeria in the area to serve authentic homemade pizza.

Lydia, who has also appeared on the Bear Grylls’ shows Celebrity Island and The Jump, recently visited her old primary school for the first time in years. During her return, she revealed her favourite restaurant to EssexLive.

Lydia recalls going there since she was very young. She said: “It’s been there for so many years, and I remember going there when I was around 5 years old. Actually, my earliest childhood memories are at the Bel-Sit.”

The 33-year-old TV personality added that this is the most authentic Italian experience in the UK. Lydia said: “I love the culture and hearing the language there. And the decoration makes you feel like you are in old-school Italy! Whenever I go there, I feel at home.”

Pizzeria Bel-Sit prides itself for being a hub for locals who enjoy genuine Italian cuisine. Their website states: “Customers return regularly to eat delicious food, drink good wine and share stories and become good friends.”

“You could dine on your own or bring the whole family for a celebration. I wonder how many times they honked that horn and sang ‘ Happy Birthday’! And the queue…., back in the day before social media, was the place you would go people and trend spotting.”

Bel-Sit also claims that the restaurant has been frequented by ‘celebrities young and old, sporting heroes, musical geniuses and reality stars’ but the owners give everyone the same good service. They say that even their Nonna (grandmother) had to queue for a table!
