Family of motorcyclist, 20, killed in crash thank 999 workers who 'tried their best to save him'

The family of a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash have thanked emergency services who tried to save him.

20-year-old Shane Gaskin was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a three-vehicle collision just before 6pm on Monday, November 11. The collision, which involved two cars and a motorbike, happened on Dentgate Lane, Barnard Castle.

The much-loved man was taken to The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with serious injuries but passed away the following day. On Tuesday, Durham Constabulary released a tribute from Shane's family.

"Shane’s family have paid tribute to him and said they wanted to thank air ambulance staff, emergency services and the staff at James Cook hospital who all tried their best to save him," a spokesperson said. The force confirmed an investigation into the collision is ongoing.
