An "utterly heartbroken" family have paid tribute to a "caring, helpful and talented" Leicestershire man who died two days after a crash which left him in a critical condition. Ethan Walsh, from Coalville, died in hospital on Friday, September 13.

In a statement today, Mr Walsh's family described him as "amazing", and said they could "not have been prouder" of him. Leicestershire Police are continuing to appeal for information about the crash.

Officers were called to the incident, on the stretch of the A607 near the Charnwood villages of East Goscote and Queniborough, at around 6.30pm on Wednesday, September 11. They found that a black Alfa Romeo Giulia being driven by Mr Walsh had left the road and come to a stop down a steep embankment.

His family said: "Ethan was an athlete, a therapist, a brother, an uncle, a boyfriend, a grandson, a nephew, a cousin and a son who we could not be prouder of.

"He had grown into a wonderful, caring man who just enjoyed every single day. He had built a business and was on the path to a fantastic future. We have been robbed of the opportunity to witness that future and to be a part of it, and for that we are utterly heartbroken.

“Ethan was an amazing person, so kind, caring, helpful and talented. He achieved more in his short life than most people will in their lives. As our son, he made us proud and happy every day, earning him the title 'my son shine'."

Police said they were particularly keen to speak to anyone who might have seen the Alfa Romeo travelling prior to the incident or who witnessed the crash itself.

Detective Constable Paul Hicks, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts continue to remain with Ethan's family and his friends following this tragic loss and we continue to provide full support."

A male passenger in the vehicle, who is in his 20s, was also taken to hospital. He has since been discharged. The car was travelling towards the city when it left the road, close to the roundabout with Melton Road. No other vehicles were involved.
