Family tribute as man dies after being hit by car
The family of a man who was hit by a car and later died said they are "greatly saddened" at their loss. Emergency services were called to Wavertree Road, Wavertree on Saturday, November 9 just after 6.30pm.
It followed a report of a crash involving a white Vauxhall Astra and a pedestrian on Church Road North, near to the junction of Childwall Road. The pedestrian, Henry Minahan, who is also known as Harry by loved ones, was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
The 82-year-old later died in hospital from his injuries on Wednesday, November 20. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting with the investigation, police said.

In a tribute, his family said: “We are greatly saddened at the loss of a beloved brother and uncle. We would like to thank the emergency services and the staff of Aintree Hospital Trauma Unit for their great care, compassion and dedication”.
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, the lead investigating officer from the MATRIX Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are with Harry’s family at this sad time and they are being supported by a specially trained officer.
"We have launched an investigation into the circumstances of this collision and would appeal to anyone, who we haven’t already spoken to and who was in the area on the evening of Saturday 9 November, who may have witnessed this collision, or who saw the white 62 plate Vauxhall Astra in the moments leading up to the incident to please get in touch. Getting answers for Harry’s family is a priority and we value any help that can be provided”.
