Famous Newcastle store closes suddenly in Eldon Square but will return with a new look
It's been in Eldon Square for years, but Geordies who need a personalised cookie for a friend, relative or a work colleague will need to go elsewhere, as Millie's Cookies has suddenly closed, but will return with a new look after a two week revamp.
Founded in the United Kingdom in 1985, Millie's now has shops across the world in the likes of India, France, Germany, Egypt, Malta, Hong Kong and is many people's go-to, when it comes to getting a celebratory cookie for someone in their life, whether that be a milestone birthday, promotion or a new job or just to get a tasty treat for themselves.
Millie's has been in the same spot in Eldon Square, just before Blackett Bridge for years and, more recently, has had ice cream stall Baskin-Robbins as its neighbour. However, anyone walking through the city centre shopping mall in the next few weeks will find white boarding up around both vendors, as both are closed for business.

But don't worry as Millie's will be back, with a spokesperson for Eldon Square confirming to ChronicleLive that it isn't closed for good, but is having a two week re-fit.
At the end of last week, there were crowd control barriers all the way back to Millie's and beyond, as some people slept in Eldon Square overnight to be at the front of the queue in time for world famous cosmetics and skin care brand Sephora opening its first of two north East stores on Friday, as doors also opened on one in the nearby Metro Centre.
