Rob Liefeld, fan of ridiculous '90s comic book tropes like muscles, huge guns, pouches and impossibly proportioned women, is losing his mind over his visit to the set of Deadpool 2.

The comic writer, who created both the Merc with a Mouth and the X-Man Cable, posted an Instagram photo of himself stood opposite Josh Brolin, who is portraying the latter character in the upcoming sequel.

And he is fanboying. Hard.

"CABLE!! Say what??" he wrote, "I'm going to actually meet him in the flesh and blood(and steel coils)??

"And, oh, by the way, he's one of your favorite and one of the most talented actors of all space and time!

"Yeah, I dare you to try and meet one of your own creations and not get umpteen butterflies in your stomach. I don't remember anything that was said here besides me thinking 'I'm meeting CABLE!! HOW AWESOME IS THIS?!?!'

"Mr. Josh Brolin could not be more perfect in this role," Liefeld continued.

"He is amazing and outstanding and you will no doubt be as giddy as I was when watching him portray Cable. His commitment to becoming Cable goes beyond his physical transformation, he found the voice that fans will go crazy about!

"Ryan as Deadpool and Josh as Cable. Look out World this is going to be nuts!"

Josh Brolin has signed a four-picture deal with 20th Century Fox, encompassing Deadpool 2, X-Force and two unknown movies (sequels, perhaps?).

Meanwhile, Deadpool himself has taken over the latest issue of Good Housekeeping, and it's a match made in heaven.

Deadpool 2 is currently slated for a June 1, 2018 release.
