Fans Celebrate Ruling Ending Britney Spears's Father's Control of Singer's Estate

Britney Spears’s father, Jamie P Spears, was suspended from her conservatorship by a Los Angeles judge on September 29, according to reports.

Judge Brenda Penny approved a petition by the pop singer’s lawyer, Matthew Rosengart, to remove Spears from overseeing his daughter’s estate. "The current situation is not tenable,” said Judge Penny, according to the New York Times. Her father will be replaced by temporary conservator CPA John Zabel.

Rosengart said the conservatorship should be terminated entirely in the next 45 days, according to reports by Variety. Britney Spears had called the 13-year conservatorship “abusive” during a court hearing on June 23.
