Fans declare new A24 thriller 'naughtiest movie of the year' as first trailer drops
A24's sizzling new thriller, Babygirl, had audiences at the Vence Film Festival on their feet for a seven-minute standing ovation, and now with the trailer hitting the screens, fans are full of praise as well.
Released on Tuesday, October 1, the intriguing two-minute teaser introduces us to a dominant CEO portrayed by Nicole Kidman, who becomes entangled with a dashing young intern played by Harris Dickinson (The Iron Claw), whom IMDB has spotlighted in the Hottest 100: Young Male and Teen Actors of 2024.
The film positions Kidman as the unflappable chief executive officer who is also leading a tranquil family life with her husband (Antonio Banderas) and their children. However, things heat up following her initial encounter with Dickinson's character, underscored by suspenseful voiceover that teases: "Everyone is just waiting for me to buckle under the pressure."
The trailer continues to display scenes of the duo conversing, with the intern making an "inappropriate" remark followed by the initial kiss that ignites the affair.

Beneath the trailer on YouTube, aficionados are comparing the film to other notable erotic dramas, with one stating: "A24 out here making a better version of 50 Shades of Grey", reports the Mirror.
Switching over to X, once known as Twitter, supporters shared their anticipation for the film, with comments like: "Sexy cinema is SO back", "The chemistry looks off the charts" and even a confession: "I'm blushing at how hot this trailer is." Yet another proclaimed it "the naughtiest film of the year."
While many have welcomed the trailer with great enthusiasm, some have observed a recurring pattern of age-gap relationships in cinema where the woman is notably older. This theme has surfaced in Netflix titles such as A Family Affair, featuring Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron, and The Idea of You with Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine in the leads.
One viewer shared their dissatisfaction, saying: "God! All these movies are so similar. It's starting to get boring."
The steamy thriller, penned and helmed by Dutch director Halina Reijn, is all set for a Christmas Day debut in the States, while Brits will have to wait until January 2025. The cast includes Everything Now star Sophie Wilde.
