Fans lose it as Kylie and Jason Donovan reunite on stage

It may be 29 years since Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan released their hit song Especially For You, but they proved it’s still as popular as ever when fans went wild at their surprise appearance on stage together on Sunday night.

The 50-year-old Aussie songstress was headlining the BBC Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park gig, when she shocked fans by introducing 50-year-old Jason Donovan to sing along with her.

The duo launched into a roaring rendition of the 80’s hit, as they danced and twirled around each other.

“OMFG – Kylie and Jason are on stage together!!!!,” one excited fan tweeted.

“Boom!!! Kylie and Jason back together!! Love love love !! right back to my childhood! Thank you !!,” another fan said online.

“Kylie brought out Jason on stage in Hyde Park and I freely admit that I lost my voice screaming,” a person who was at the concert in Hyde Park tweeted.

Their performance comes six years after they last reunited on stage at The Hit Factory Live Christmas Cracker concert in London in 2012.

It was the first time in 23 years that the duo had performed Especially For You since it was released in 1989.

Kylie and Jason first met when they appeared in Neighbours together in 1986. They went on to date in real life, however their relationship broke down in 1989 and Kylie began having a relationship with INXS singer Michael Hutchence, who passed away in 1997. Photo: BBC

Kylie and Jason first met when they appeared in Neighbours together in 1986, as Charlene Robinson and Scott Robinson.

They went on to date in real life, however their relationship broke down in 1989 and Kylie began seeing INXS singer Michael Hutchence, who passed away in 1997.

Speaking about the break-up two years ago, Jason said he still found it hard to talk about.

“It was an extremely painful parting of the ways and, without doubt, I took a long time to recover from it,” Jason told the Mirror.

“Years, definitely.

“It was bad enough that she’d run off with anybody, but she happened to run into the arms of the greatest rock god of the period, the very guy who I secretly wanted to be. That was a pretty big punch to take.”

He claimed he had bumped into Kylie a few times since their split but they never brought up details of how they parted ways
