Fans paid tribute to George Michael a year after his death
It’s been a year and a day since pop legend George Michael passed passed away and tributes have been pouring in to remember him.
Fans laid candles, flowers, and presents outside the British pop singer’s Highgate, North London home between the period of Christmas and New Year.
It has since been revealed the popstar died of heart failure, as the heartbreaking news broke at Christmas, 2016. And 12 months on, fans once again were out in force to pay tribute to the star on the anniversary of his passing.

A special memorial was set up outside Mill Cottage Goring on the Thames.
Admirers across the world shared their personal tributes on social media, as they remembered the singer.
“So if you can, in his memory this year, take a moment and a deep breath and say those ‘I Love You’s’ out loud. We all think there is time, don’t we? – but, just maybe, it’s later than you think…” George Michael’s family shares emotional tribute https://t.co/c9XQrtbIfc

1 year ago today, we lost one of the most exciting musicians on the planet, George Michael. He was also an active LGBT rights campaigner and HIV/AIDS charity fundraiser, and is still greatly missed. pic.twitter.com/n3k9Edc3cU

But while fans were sharing touching memories and tributes to him, one noted that his buriel site still hasn’t got a headstone.
I am thinking about George Michael a lot this Christmas. Here he is in one of his great duets… @GeorgeMichael & @ArethaFranklin ‘I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)’ https://t.co/SIhwGSQABG

‘George’s mother obviously has a big headstone, with a tribute in big letters, but then there’s just this empty space next to it.
There’s brick flower troughs around the area, and clearly space for George next to his mum, but there’s just nothing marking it,’ the fan noted.
Despite having a year to reflect, it appears there’s still bad blood between his family and the singer’s former lover Fadi Fawaz, who was reportedly banned from attending the one year memorial.
Fawaz deleted his Twitter account last month, after it was reported Michael’s family were trying to stop him from releasing a tell-all book by offering a £5 million property and a £250,000 monthly retainer.
