Fans of Scottish star Karen Gillian sent into frenzy over resurfaced school photo

Hollywood star Karen Gillian has sent fans into a frenzy after sharing a picture of her as a young school pupil.

The former Edinburgh College student took to social media to post the cute snap as it appeared the former Doctor Who actor was feeling a touch of nostalgia for her childhood.

Karen is expecting her first child with husband and acclaimed comedian, Nick Kocher, the Daily Record reports.

On her Instagram story, she posted an old school picture day photo of herself, with her usual ginger hair styled in a high ponytail with a fringe, as she joked ‘might recreate these bangs’.

The Inverness born actress attended Kinmylies Primary School, before she moved to Edinburgh, aged 16, to take an acting course at Edinburgh College.

Karen surprised fans when she revealed her pregnancy in September, as she was pictured on the red carpet for her latest movie The Life of Chuck.

She appeared on the red carpet in a statement yellow dress as she cradled her bump at the Toronto Film Festival.

This will be the actress's first child, with her husband.

Nick could not be any different from his wife, having been brought up in Atlanta, Georgia. The couple met on social media after Karen came across Nick’s Instagram account and slid into his DM’s.

Karen recalled: "I was so single and not meeting anyone. I did not get on with the American dating scene. Then he was presented as a recommended friend. I looked him up on YouTube and he was funny, so eventually I just slid into his DMs. I’ve never done that before in my life.”

The couple married in May of 2022 at Castle Toward in Argyll, although it wasn’t until the following year Karen announced her marriage to the world on Instagram.

Posting herself in a white strapless Oscar de la Renta dress, her bridesmaids and a bagpiper with the caption “Last May…”.

Karen still feels connected to her Scottish roots, and plans to move back to Scotland eventually and now with a little one on the way, she may want to move back now more than ever.
