Yahoo News Each Fantastic Beasts film to be set in different city
We already know the Fantastic Beasts stories will span five films, but now director David Yates has stated that each of the movies will take place in a different city.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them took place in New York while Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will take us to Paris and now it seems like the globe-trotting will continue.
When asked by EW if each film is set in a different city, Yates confirmed the plan.
"Jo's already told us where the next one is taking place," he said. "It's very exciting. This is a global story, ultimately. And given that there's a global audience for this, it's all the more delightful to take the story to different parts of the world."
It sounds plausible then that each film will be set in a different country too. Germany could be a good bet for one of the follow-ups, where we might get a look at German Hogwarts equivalent Durmstrang Institute – Grindelwald was once a student there (and was expelled).
Later, Grindelwald set up a fortress in Europe called Nurmengard which he used to imprison his enemies – this might have been in Germany too. The story is likely to give us a glimpse of the epic duel between Grindelwald and Dumbledore in 1945, where Grindelwald was finally defeated.
And who knows where else the films might take us...
If our theory about Claudia Kim's character eventually turning into Voldemort's snake Nagini is born out, might we see an episode set in India? After all, the word 'Nagini', referring to a being taking the form of a great snake, is Sanskrit and Pali and is based in Indian religions.
As producer David Heyman previously explained, we may well see a variety of parts of the world in each instalment.
In Crimes of Grindelwald, he says they "delve deeper into [Rowling's] wizarding world – we're in Paris, we're in London and New York, the world is expanding," adding: "As you can tell from the [cast photo], we're following quite a few characters. "
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald opens on November 16.
