So Far Gone... but not forgotten! Drake releases classic mixtape to celebrate 10 year anniversary

Drake has released his breakout mixtape So Far Gone on streaming sites to mark a decade in the music business.

The rapper, real name Aubrey Graham, revealed he was releasing the mixtape, which was hailed as the catalyst for his international career, to celebrate 10 years of fame.

So Far Gone featured 18 tracks with a range of collaborators, including Lil Wayne and Omarion, as well as being the precursor to single releases including Best I Ever Had and Successful.

Posting a picture of the number 10 on a black background, Drake wrote: “So Far Gone streaming everywhere 10 years later. Praying for 10 more.”

In another post, the Canadian star thanked a whole host of people for being involved in his career including manager Future the Prince, actor Ben Baller and his record label team at Ovo.

The 32-year-old also gave a shoutout to fellow artist Trey Songz for “being the first person to recognise his potential” and LeBron James for attending his launch party six years ago and “making him the biggest artist in the city with his presence”.

Drake also paid homage to Kanye West, despite West’s recent Twitter tirade against him , by telling him that he will “never forget what he contributed to the game and his career”. Drake added that he was “rapping over his beat” when he first started out.

Drake finished his post: “I will never forget anybody involved in this journey even if you don’t fit in this caption...So Far Gone streaming everywhere for the first time ever Thursday.”

Last weekend, Drake won Best Rap Song at the Grammys for his track God’s Plan but it was his acceptance speech which made headlines after he was cut off mid-sentence .

The artist shocked the room as he bounded up on stage to say that he “didn’t need an award to be a winner”.

Drake said: “We play in an opinion-based sport, not a factual-based sport.

“The point is you’ve already won if you have people who are singing your songs word for word, if you’re a hero in your hometown.

“Look, if there’s people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain and snow, spending money to buy tickets to your shows, you don’t need this right here. You already won but…”

As he drew breathe to continue speaking, the telecast cut to an advert break which left viewers baffled and unimpressed.

So Far Gone is available now on iTunes, Spotify and Tidal.
